Op dinsdag 4 juni zal tijdens de lunch (12.15 – 13.30) de Israëlische ambassadeur in Nederland, de heer Shir-On, een lezing verzorgen. De ambassadeur heeft een lange diplomatieke loopbaan op het allerhoogste niveau achter de rug. Zo was hij onder andere woordvoerder van het land tijdens de vredesbesprekingen met Jordanië, om vervolgens enkele jaren later deel te zijn van de delegatie die de op dat moment historische Oslo-akkoorden sloot met de Palestijnse Autoriteit.
Het gesprek zal plaatsvinden onder leiding van een gespreksleider. Aan het einde van de lezing is er een korte ruimte voor vragen, maar het is mogelijk om vooraf al vragen in te sturen die gedurende de lezing behandeld zullen worden. Het evenement is besloten, wat betekent dat de lezing louter toegankelijk is voor leden. Uit veiligheidsoverwegingen is vooraf aanmelden verplicht, en worden de aanmeldingen gecontroleerd tijdens de lezing. Het is niet toegestaan tassen mee te nemen in de ruimte, en het meenemen van een identiteitsbewijs of studentenpas is verplicht. Deel de lezing dus vooral met je medestudenten, maar gelieve niet daarbuiten. De locatie van de lezing volgt in de bevestigingsmail.
The 4rd of June, the ambassador to the Netherlands of Israel, mister Shir-On, will provide a lecture during the lunch break (12.15-13.30). The ambassador has had a long diplomatic career on the highest possible level, as he was the spokesman of Israel during the peace talks with Jordan and part of the delegation negotiating the historic Oslo Accords with the Palestinian Authority.
At the end of the conversation, there will be some little time for questions, but it’s possible to ask questions in advance which will be answered during the lecture. The event is closed, meaning the event is meant for members-only. Due to security reasons, registering before the event is obligatory, and your registration will be checked on the day itself. It’s not allowed to bring bags inside of the location, and bringing proof of ID or a student card is asked for as well. You can share the event with your fellow students, but only with registered members. The exact location of the event is mentioned in the confirmation email.
